Lethbridge, Alta. – The Lethbridge Farmers’ Market is ready to bring the community together as it returns this spring. Presented annually by Lethbridge & District Exhibition, vendors are now being accepted for the popular market, which showcases the region’s best fresh produce, baked goods, homemade crafts and so much more.
The Saturday Market at Lethbridge & District Exhibition begins June 10, while the Downtown Market, jointly presented with the Downtown BRZ begins July 5. Both markets are free to attend and feature products and entertainment for the whole family. Last year, nearly 57,000 people attended the market at Lethbridge & District Exhibition.
“The Farmers’ Market is a community-building event that connects and supports both local businesses and local producers,” says Mike Warkentin, Lethbridge & District Exhibition CEO. “We’re focused on creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere, where families can wander together and talk directly to the high-quality vendors, all while running into their neighbours and visiting with members of the community. It’s a unique southern Alberta event we are proud to produce.”
As an Alberta approved farmers’ market, the Lethbridge & District Exhibition Farmers’ Market places a focus on products made, baked or grown in Alberta, giving a showcase to the many diverse items produced across the region.
“We are very happy to welcome back the downtown Farmers’ Market,” says Emily Chong, Downtown BRZ Marketing and Communications Manager. “This annual event provides so much vibrancy and excitement every summer. It is truly a downtown staple and we are excited to welcome back vendors and attendees!”
With producers from across the region, the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market offers a wide range of crafts, fresh fruit, vegetables, local meat, homemade baking, art work, handmade clothing and much more.
Vendors are encouraged to apply now to ensure their spot in the upcoming markets.
“Being able to grow fresh healthy foods and selling it right in the community is the reward that motivates a farmer,” says Paul de Jonge, owner of Broxburn Vegetables, a long-time Farmers’ Market vendor. “Lethbridge & District Exhibition has provided that opportunity for many years by supporting agriculture, which is so important to the local economy.”
