Lethbridge, AB – Lethbridge & District Exhibition proudly announces 2022 programming for Whoop-Up Days from August 23-27, and introduces the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo from August 25-27.

In celebration of our 125th anniversary, we invite the region to celebrate the signature sights, sounds, smells and tastes of summer. Whoop-Up Days and the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo create high-energy atmospheres on the Lethbridge & District Exhibition grounds with re-imagined event experiences.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition is honoured to partner with the Blackfoot Confederacy to offer Indigenous cultural programming at Whoop-Up Days 2022. This year’s parade will kick off festivities on August 23 with parade marshals Chief Roy Fox of Kainai Nation, Chief Stanley Grier from Piikani Nation and Chief Ouray Crowfoot from Siksika Nation.

Get back in the Saddle at the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo on August 25-27! The return of a professionally sanctioned CPRA and PRCA rodeo to Lethbridge commemorates our agricultural roots and 125-year connection with the ranching community’s rodeo culture.

Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo 2022 will allow riders daily to accumulate points to qualify for competition in the Canadian Finals Rodeo and National Finals Rodeo. The rodeo includes purse prizes for riders, and will attract attendees to watch eight events: Ladies Barrel Racing, Bareback, Steer Wrestling, Tie Down, Saddle Bronc, Team Roping, Breakaway and Bull Riding, plus the ever-exciting Warrior Relay Races. The Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo invites corporate partners to participate-this event will be broadcast across competitive circuit. Thank you to our Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo partners: Western Stockman, Hickory Street, Gas King, Allied Projects Electrical Systems, Ritchie Bros., UFA, the City of Lethbridge, Cattlemen’s Chophouse and SMS Equipment.

“The roots of professional rodeo are exceptional in Southern Alberta and this community, and we wanted to bring back the legacy and long-standing tradition,” says Mike Warkentin, Chief Executive Officer, Lethbridge & District Exhibition. “We welcome the community to witness one of the world’s most action-packed and exciting sports. The Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo is a legacy showcase of Southern Alberta sport-it is engrained in the history, people and culture.”

Lethbridge & District Exhibition is proud to partner with the Blackfoot Confederacy to announce the introduction of a powwow at Whoop-Up Days. The addition of powwow honours the rich and unique heritage of the Blackfoot people, and shares the important stories of First Nations peoples with all.

We are excited to transform our indoor space into La Galleria-a curated, creative space that recognizes the local art community, and the artists who capture what it means to live, work and play in Southern Alberta. Artists are invited to display and sell their artwork while guests shop, enjoy the wine bar and signature food offerings from our culinary team. Thank you to our partners Drywall Worx and Foundation Building Supplies for their support of La Galleria.

In addition to traditions like jumbo ears, guests can explore our grounds and discover Mini Carnival-a dedicated kid’s zone, YQL Beach-an indoor beach party, and the 1927 Saloon. Attendees can wander the fair and find entertainment from Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel, The Strolling Piano, Extreme Dogs, The Kids Pedal Tractor Pull Show and a Family Show.

Lastly, the Lethbridge & District Exhibition Lotteries program, in partnership with the Lethbridge Therapeutic Riding Association, gives our region the opportunity to support 125 years of community-driven impact. A growing lottery pool generates participation from Albertans across the province with ticket holders gambling to win $125,000. The final prize draw will happen on August 30.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition is excited to create events that reignite our economy and welcome guests to our campus as a major tourism destination. Whoop-Up Days and the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo are two signature events which honour our 125 years in the community, and the future 125-year legacy we are building through construction of the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition looks forward to welcoming the world to experience Southern Alberta, its entertainers, its leaders and its innovators-right here in the heart of Canada’s Premier Food Corridor.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition would like to thank our partners Visit Lethbridge, Ward Bros. Construction Ltd. and Lethbridge Event Rentals for their continued support.
