Lethbridge & District Exhibition announces new President


Mark Sayers elected 57th President of Lethbridge & District Exhibition Board of Directors

Lethbridge, Alta. – A long-time and highly-respected member of Southern Alberta’s business and agriculture communities has been elected the 57th President of Lethbridge & District Exhibition’s (LDE) Board of Directors. Mark Sayers has taken over the position and will serve a term as President until February 2025. Sayers has served as a member of LDE’s Board of Directors since 2015.


Along with his wife, Pat, Sayers founded Maple Ridge Floors in 1987, and has served as the company’s President since its formation. He has also created strong ties in the southern Alberta community, holding a wide variety of roles. He has been strongly involved in 4-H for 30 years, holding a variety of roles at the club, district, regional and provincial levels, and was inducted into the 4-H Alberta Hall of Fame in 2018. He is currently a Councillor for Lethbridge County and has been the long-time Lethbridge delegate for UFA, serving on a variety of committees over that time. He has also held roles with McKillop United Church, Coaldale & District Agricultural Society, and a variety of minor sports organizations.


“I have had a long history of working with Lethbridge & District Exhibition, so I am proud to take on the role of President,” says Sayers. “This organization is growing and changing, which makes me excited for the future and all we will be able to accomplish.”

As a not-for-profit organization, Lethbridge & District Exhibition is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors which is elected by individual community shareholders. Setting an intentional external direction for Lethbridge & District Exhibition, the Board of Directors oversees governance of the organization, guided by the direction that: Lethbridge & District Exhibition exists so that the people of Lethbridge & District have a community gathering place now and in the future at which to participate in events, conduct business, learn and be entertained.


“Mark has been a strong advocate for Lethbridge & District Exhibition both during his time on the Board of Directors, and before that given his strong ties to 4-H,” says Mike Warkentin, Lethbridge & District Exhibition CEO. “With the opening of the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre, LDE is leading the way in what it means to be an agricultural society in the present day and Mark brings experiences and knowledge that will lead us forward in that pursuit. He will play an important role in keeping our roots firmly planted in agriculture, and ensuring we keep it as a key priority going forward.”
