Pure Power Wrestling returns to rough up Whoop-Up Days

Local professional wrestling organization’s Hot Summer Night brings the heat to Whoop-Up Days on Aug. 24

Lethbridge, Alta. – The local heroes of the squared circle will once again be bringing their talents to Whoop-Up Days as Pure Power Wrestling presents Hot Summer Night at Whoop-Up Days in the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre on Saturday, Aug. 24.

This marks the second straight year that southern Alberta’s top wrestling promotion has created a tag-team with Southern Alberta’s premier summer festival. Tickets are on sale now through the Whoop-Up Days website, with advance pricing in place through Aug. 19. All PPW tickets include admission to Whoop-Up Days.

The main event will be a star-studded eight-man tag team elimination match as The Stud Stable — PPW Champion "Mr. Beefy Goodness" Vance Nevada, "The God of Thunder" Andy Anderson, and PPW Tag Team Champions The Brand , clash with Team Copeland — number one contender for the PPW Championship Travis "The Heat" Copeland, and three partners of his choosing.

Plus, the PPW Western Canadian Championship will be on the line when Tony Machete challenges "Sexy Cowboy" Bryn Watts. And, fresh off an appearance on Ring of Honor and a stint at Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes' Nightmare Factory, “The Last Gladiator” Scorpious returns to PPW.

“Pro wrestling at Lethbridge & District Exhibition is a tradition that dates back decades and we’re so excited that Pure Power Wrestling has chosen to write a new chapter in this legacy at Whoop-Up Days,” says Paul Kingsmith, Director, Community Development, Lethbridge & District Exhibition. “PPW puts on a high-energy, family-friendly, knock-‘em-down, drag-‘em-out show that isn’t to be missed. And with all PPW tickets including admission to Whoop-Up Days, it’s a value that can’t be beaten.”

Pure Power Wrestling is the best family-friendly professional wrestling entertainment available in southern Alberta. Founded in 2010, and based in Lethbridge, the organization has hosted events throughout southern Alberta and southeastern B.C. and its events are regularly televised on Rogers TV. Bringing a marquee event such as Hot Summer Night to Whoop-Up Days is a highlight for PPW.

“We’re looking forward to bringing our style of family entertainment to Whoop-Up Days for the second year in a row,” said Jim Kristensen, Partner, Pure Power Wrestling. “We’ve got a line-up that can’t be beat featuring some of Canada’s top wrestling stars, and the best talent in Southern Alberta.”

Pure Power Wrestling’s Hot Summer Night is a ticketed event within Whoop-Up Days. Advanced priced general admission tickets are $20 up until Aug. 19 or $30 if purchased at the door. Youth tickets for those between 6-15 are $15, and children 5 and under are free. All tickets include admission to Whoop-Up Days. Go to whoopupdays.ca to learn more and purchase tickets.
