The Saturday and Wednesday Lethbridge Farmers’ Markets give shoppers the opportunity to buy made, baked and grown local products

Lethbridge, Alta. – A sure sign of summer is set to return as the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market opens for the season next month. The Saturday Farmers’ Market, presented by UFA, kicks off its season on June 14, while the Wednesday Downtown Farmers’ Market, produced in collaboration with the Downtown BRZ and presented by 94.1 CJOC begins July 2.

As the city’s only Alberta-approved Farmers’ Market, the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market is a community-based institution established by Lethbridge & District Exhibition in 1971 where guests can shop, eat and enjoy local. Shoppers have been able to pick up local fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts and much more for over 50 years. Being an Alberta-approved Farmers’ Market means at least 80 per cent of products for sale are made, baked or grown in Alberta.

“We know both the Saturday and Wednesday Farmers’ Markets are events the city looks forward to every year,” says Deborah Gordon, Director of Client Services, Lethbridge & District Exhibition. “While great for shoppers, the markets are also an important outlet for local vendors, who have the chance to grow their businesses and reach new customers. We’re excited for another great year.”

The Saturday Lethbridge Farmers’ Market presented by UFA runs each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the UFA Hall of the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre from June 14 to Oct. 11, except for Aug. 23. In addition to a great shopping selection, guests can also enjoy food trucks, live music, displays from community partners and, new this year, themed days with special guests and activities.

The Wednesday Lethbridge Farmers’ Market produced in collaboration with the Downtown BRZ and presented by 94.1 CJOC runs each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Festival Square (600 3 Ave. S.) from July 2 to Aug. 27.

“We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to the heart of our city for another vibrant season of the Downtown Farmers’ Market!” says Sarah Amies, Executive Director, Downtown BRZ. “The Downtown Farmers’ Market offers a great opportunity to shop and support local, explore downtown, and build a thriving community.”

Admission is free for the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market. Vendors interested in being a part of the market can apply now. More information is available at lethbridgefarmersmarket.ca.
